Magalie Exavier-Alexis was a member of the ninth Cahn Fellows cohort in 2011 as Principal of P.S. 282 Park Slope in Brooklyn, NY.
Magalie completed her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy while working as a school principal in Brooklyn’s District 13.
Her first article was published in the New York Academy for Public Education (NYAPE) Research Journal December 2022. As of July 1, 2022, she serves as the Treasurer of the New York City Elementary School Principals Association and is also serving on the Council of Supervisors and Administrators Executive Board (2022-2025). In 2010, she participated in and completed the New York State Council of School Superintendents -Future Superintendents Academy through their foundation- Leadership for Educational Achievement, Inc., (LEAF). She received the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award from Education Update in 2014-2015. That same year, she received the Principal of the Year Award from the Association of Black Educators of New York (ABENY). She was the Vice President of the Society of Haitian Supervisors and Administrators (2020 to 2022) and is the VP of a non-profit organization (RYM) Resilient Young Minds (2021 to the Present). As of March 12, 2023, she will become a member of the National Association of University Women. Additionally, on April 26, 2023, she will be sworn in as a member of PDK International - NYU chapter.
