Dr. Rahesha Amon was a member of the fifth Cahn Fellows cohort in 2007 as Principal of Frederick Douglass Academy III Secondary School in The Bronx, NY.
Rahesha served as Founding Principal of Frederick Douglass Academy III Secondary School for more than 11 years. In 2016, she was promoted to the role of Community Superintendent for District 16 where she served for more than 3 years. In July 2019 she took on the role of Senior Executive Director in the Office of Leadership, Professional Learning and Continuous Improvement where she was responsible for is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of leadership development. In July 2022, she moved on to the role of Senior Executive Director of School Support and Operations where she is responsible for the instruction, operations, and compliance to support school staff, students, and families.
Dr. Amon is an award-winning education executive with over 25 years of leadership and management experience in complex organizations. She has exceptional strategic decision-making skills and leadership expertise, contributing extensively to education domestically and internationally. Dr. Amon has a broad knowledge of the early childhood through college continuum, including experience in America’s largest public school system serving at school, district, central office, and state leadership levels. Her experiences have provided opportunities to demonstrate outcomes-based knowledge with research-based strategies to drive mission-aligned impact on schools, students, families, and communities. Dr. Amon successfully cultivates relationships and increases impact through a cross-sectoral approach with partners such as elected officials, boards, and community-based organizations, fostering collaboration and driving success.
