Wayne Bevis was the Principal of Lindblom Math & Science Academy. His educational calling began in college when he pursued Special Education as a result of his step brother being diagnosed with autism. He pursued educational leadership to ensure college is an affordable option for every student as he was only able to attend college due to the generosity of the Evans Scholarship. He is an alum of New Leaders and served as the Assistant Principal and then Principal of Lindblom. Under his leadership, Lindblom earned the Break Through Schools grant for its design and implementation of Proficiency-Based Learning. During the 2018-2019 school year, Lindblom was #1 in College Enrollment for the 5th year in a row and #1 in Scholarships for Chicago Public Schools plus ranked #11 in Illinois by US News and World Reports.  Wayne is now the Founding Principal of Chicago Public School's Virtual Academy which services medically fragile students in PreK - 12th who can't return to in-person learning due to covid. In addition his work includes establishing citywide virtual learning options for student acceleration.
