Dr. Alina Diaz-Blanco, Fellow

Dr. Alina Diaz-Blanco began her profession in education twenty-two years ago for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. She has embarked on a variety of endeavors in her illustrious career including Lead Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Vice Principal of Robert Morgan Educational Center and later Principal at Caribbean K-8 Center. She is currently principal of International Studies Preparatory Academy, a prestigious language magnet school, as well as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University. As an administrator, Dr. Blanco’s philosophy entails creating an environment that encourages open communication which in turn fosters higher achievement and learning for all stakeholders at her school. She continues to mentor future leaders and administrators hoping for an empowering and inclusive community especially for women in leadership roles. Ultimately, her goal is creating a positive learning environment while providing rigorous academics which leads to success for all.
Ana Alamo, Ally

If there is one thing Ana Alamo has learned throughout her career in education, it is that there is always more to learn. Ana started her career in Miami-Dade County Public Schools as a second-grade teacher, then transitioned to middle school seven years later. Currently, Ana is the Test Chairperson at International Studies Preparatory (ISPA). She is an essential part of ISPA’s Support Team, working alongside administration helping provide teachers with the support, strategies, and resources needed to succeed in the classroom. In her role as Test Chairperson, Ana is responsible for planning and implementing all state and local student assessments, including training of teachers, providing parental guidance and support, test security, and ensuring all students receive appropriate accommodations as stated on students Individual Educational Plans (IEP) and Limited English Proficiency Plans (LEP). Her path in education has led her through different educational experiences and roles and she is excited to see what the next adventure brings.
