Julio A. Fong is the proud Principal at Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary located in Northeast Miami, Florida. He received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Florida International University, Master’s Degree in Computer Science in Education from Barry University, and his Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Principal Fong was inspired to go into the education field when he experienced the difference he was able to make while working with his young family members. He was an elementary classroom teacher for 9 years working with middle to low socio-economic students. He taught English language learners, general education, special education and gifted students. Mr. Fong strived to play a critical role in improving the learning environment and academic progress of all students and became a school administrator. During his 13 years of tenure as an Assistant Principal he served at different school configurations, elementary, middle and a K-8 Center. While serving at Sunny Isles Beach K-8, he was nominated as Assistant Principal of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year Finalist. Julio A. Fong was born in Las Villas, Cuba. At the age of 11 he migrated with his family to the United States. Besides his love for learning, he is also interested in architecture and music. He currently resides in the Town of Miami Lakes, a suburb in Miami, with his wife and 2 children.

Morgan E. Sweetman is a Kindergarten teacher at Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary School in Miami, Florida. She has been teaching in Miami-Dade County for 17 years. Morgan received her bachelor’s degree in Pre-K Primary Education from Barry University, and is also certified in ESOL, Gifted, and Exceptional Student Education.   Morgan Sweetman decided early on that she wanted to become an elementary school teacher following in the footsteps of her own Elementary School teachers. She grew up in the Miami area and went through the public school system until she graduated with honors in 2001. She quickly decided that education would be her major at Barry University.  In Spring 2005, Morgan completed her student teaching at Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary and graduated Cum Laude beginning her career as a teacher. Morgan Sweetman taught Second grade for 16 years. She served as grade chair for 12 of those years. She has taught Gifted, ESOL, and ESE students throughout her career. Morgan is also a member of the Leadership Team where she is part of the committee who writes the School Improvement Plan.  Her love of teaching goes without saying, however, her beautiful family is her pride and joy. She currently resides in Cooper City, Florida with her husband and 2 children.
