Dr. Frank Hernandez, is a proud product of the South Bronx and New York City public schools. Dr. Hernandez was the principal of PS 49X in the South Bronx, blocks away from where he grew up. Frank now serves as Assistant Superintendent of Supervision, Curriculum, & Instruction after previously serving as Deputy Superintendent of District 7, New York City. Frank has been an educator for 15 years serving in various capacities including paraprofessional, teacher, mathematics coach, data specialist, and assistant principal. He is a graduate of Fordham University where he earned his doctorate in Urban Education.
Dr. Hernandez recently attended the Race, Equity, and Leadership Institute at Harvard University where he enhanced his equity consciousness and strategies to lead a school committed to equity-driven pedagogy. He is a part of the inaugural Districts Equity and My Brother’s Keeper Teams.
Dr. Hernandez believes that through a close and collegial partnership with all stakeholders, all students can learn and achieve at high levels. He is an educational partner in the enhancement of the academic, social, and emotional horizons of our scholars.
