José Jiménez is the Principal of PS 290Q - A.C.E. Academy for Scholars. He strongly believes in inclusion and creating equitable opportunities for all scholars. As a Principal, he has focused on developing project-based practices to enhance the experiential learning of his scholars. He is dedicated to creating memorable learning experiences by focusing on critical thinking, problem- solving skills, advocacy, and arts education. A.C.E. Academy serves a diverse community, making significant gains in scholar performance, and was a Blackboard Award recipient in 2019, recognized as a “School of Excellence.” José has participated in various national fellowships including, the Deeper Learning Equity Fellows and the National Institute for Latino School Leaders Fellowship. Prior to being a Principal, José was an Assistant Principal and Teacher Leader. José received his B.A. from NYU in Dramatic Literature, Theatre History, and the Cinema, his M.S. in Childhood Bilingual Education from Brooklyn College, his Educational Leadership certification from Canisius College, and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center.
