Dr. Reginald Landeau, Jr. was a member of the eleventh Cahn Fellows cohort in 2013 as Principal of J.H.S. 216 George J. Ryan in Queens, NY. He now serves as Director of Field Services for the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators for the borough of Queens. In 2022, he was recognized with the Educational Leadership Award from the Middle School Principals Association.  As Principal, his Fresh Meadows School, J.H.S. 216 George J. Ryan in Queens, NY was honored with the National Blue Ribbon School 2018 Award for astounding achievement in student success. Dr. Landeau served the public school children of New York City for 30 years in the roles of Paraprofessional, Teacher, Staff Developer, Instructional Technology Director, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Master Principal. The last 18 years of his NYC DOE career was as Principal at MS 216. Under Dr. Landeau's leadership, MS 216 transformed from the district's lowest performing school to becoming its top middle school on the NYC Progress Report. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Education awarded him with the Terrel H. Bell National Award for Outstanding School Leadership, the first African-American male to ever receive this award. Dr. Landeau credits his professional success to his family and many outstanding colleagues with whom he has been privileged to work with in service to the children of NYC public schools.
