Martin Reid, an administrator of 23 years, has been recognized for his leadership locally by the Miami-Dade School District and Nationally by Magnet Schools of America as the 2016 National Principal of the Year. Mr. Reid received his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Florida A&M University, his Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and his Specialist degree with a concentration in Reading Instruction from the University of Miami. Because he has worked on every academic level, he has a unique perspective on the importance of positive student outcomes throughout the educational spectrum for students. His personal philosophy of education is I + M = E (Inspiration + Motivation = Education) and he deploys it on a daily basis as he inspires and motivates the students of Mays Conservatory. As a lifelong learner, Mr. Reid creates professional development opportunities for his staff through book studies in lieu of faculty meetings to improve pedagogical practice and student outcomes. Mr. Reid and his wife Tia of 25 years have two children-Martia (24) and Martin Jr (21). Mr. Reid is an avid G.I. Joe collector and has well over 200 12-inch G.I. Joes. Martin now hold the position of Administrative Director for the South Region of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
